Good afternoon,
If you would like your voice to be heard on this issue, please do email me directly so that I can note the number of faculty members who want to move forward with an internal candidate and those who feel that we should conduct a full search.
If you have already weighed in on this issue (either to me individually, to this listserv, or via the full faculty listserv), there is no reason to indicate your perspective. I have already noted the perspective.
Again, it would be easiest to email me individually. I think the gamut of the pros and cons have been put out there for the larger faculty audience... and I'm sure we all know that there are pros can cons to each side - as is always the case.

I concur with Kathy that right now with four (and probably more) deans leaving, downsizing of staff and a lot colleges going up for accreditation I do think it might be wise to have an internal hire who understands the culture of the institution. Lori has taken the university through Middle States and various other accreditation successfully. She knows the institution and from my experience is extremely partial to faculty and will go to bat for us. I wish we had a candidate who could magically change the place around and earn us the A rating we deserve but unfortunately we do not have that right now. That is not to say that we might not in the future. But in the interim given our current state of affairs and the urgency of the situation I for one feel that Lori would be the best person for the job.

Subject: [POST-CEIT-facultycouncil] Update
Hi,
I have told Jeff that folks have been responding to the question about the VPAA position with questions about who the person is, because that will make a difference in their overall perspectives. I suggested that I would be willing to speak with anyone who would like to know who it is before making a decision (please see the email about the VPAA position for more information).
Thus, you may feel free to call me at 516-801-0241 regarding this, if you feel you need more information.
Please do respond, as we need as much faculty response to this as possible. The Faculty Council (and I in particular) do not like to speak for the faculty without having the faculty perspective.
