Dr. Chris W. Surprenant (University of New Orleans, Philosophy Department) will give a lecture entitled Making Men Moral: The Efficacy of Moral Education.<http://liupoliticalphilosophy.us6.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c075bd0461&id=c94b42df4f&e=6325c2bd98> After the talk, there will be a reception with beverages and snacks.

Dr. Surprenant will examine whether or not moral instruction and the study of ethics contributes to the development of virtuous individuals. He will talk through recent work in contemporary psychology and experimental philosophy on this topic, and explain how ideas of great philosophers can shed light on deficiencies found among standard, contemporary approaches to moral education.

The lecture will take place at LIU Post, Humanities Hall, Room 119, and is hosted by both the Institute for the Study of Democracy and Liberalism and the LIU Post Department of Philosophy.
