Report on Board of Trustees Academic Affairs Meeting
15 March 2016
The Academic Standing Committee of the Board of Trustees handled tenure and promotion cases across Campus. These included cases of promotion and tenure, promotion to full professor, of change of rank for NTTF, and of award of emeritus status. There were cases at Post, Brooklyn, Hudson, and Regional campuses. There were normative cases of promotion tenure and promotion in the sixth year and promotion to full alongside cases of early promotion and of tenure delayed by discretionary employment. The three faculty representatives were welcomed into the discussion and free to make corrections and ask pointed questions. The VPAA articulated the President's reasoning for each case whether an approval or a denial.
In addition, the Committee held the mandated second approval of the new program and new degree proposals made at the previous meeting:
The Pharmacy School proposed changing its PharmD degree to a dual degree with he BPS (Bachelor of Professional Studies) awarded for successful completion of the first two years of the program.
The School of Health Professions and Nursing at LIU-Post proposed a BS in Veterinary Technology.
Charter amendments are necessary were proposed for the designation BPS required by the PharmD program as outlined; the designation MPhil in Information Studies already approved as part of a dual degree program proposal in the EdD program in CEIT at LIU-Post, and the designation BBA for a program being prepared for proposal at LIU-Brooklyn.
