Dear students,

The Counseling program will be undergoing a significant shift with the introduction of the E-Portfolio as a milestone needed for graduation from the counseling programs. So, what about the Comprehensive Exam you may ask? Here are the important details you need to know:

  1. Students who have accrued 25 credits or more may OPT-IN to completing an E-Portfolio INSTEAD of taking the Comprehensive exam.
  2. If you currently have 25 credits or more and would like to OPT-IN to taking the E-Portfolio , please complete the attached form and submit it to me as soon as possible!
  3. The students above will also need to attend a mandatory E-Portfolio Orientation. The next one will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 6pm in HS 119.

  * Students with 0-24 credits MUST complete an E-Portfolio as a graduation requirement and will no longer be required to the the Comprehensive Exam. These students must also attend an E-Portfolio Orientation! The next one will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 6pm in HS 119.
  * Advanced Certificate students are NOT required to complete an E-Portfolio, but may do so if interested.

We understand that this is marks a change in your graduation requirements and perhaps in your planning for future semesters, so please do contact me if you have any additional questions. We will also host a Town Hall Meeting on January 16th from 6-7pm to discuss this further. For a bit more information on E-Portfolios, please see below, but don't forget to attend the Orientation to get all of the information you'll need!
•What is an e-portfolio?
–An online collection of professional and academic documents (e.g., resume/CV, professional statement, and evidence of Counseling Program Goals and Learning)
•How does the counseling program utilize e-portfolios?
–As students progress through the program they will submit coursework (i.e., evidence) and rationale (i.e., a brief narrative) that demonstrates their acquisition of each Goal and Learning Objective.
•Counseling Program E-portfolio Template
