This American Psychological Association/American Bar Association continuing education conference will address the broad range of issues related to the exposure of children, youth, and families to violence in and around the home, community, and society.
The conference will have broad appeal to psychologists, attorneys, judges, legal scholars, and others interested in the roles of law and psychology in supporting healthy children, youth, and families.
This conference will include:
✔ More than 40 plenary and invited speakers
✔ A focus on prevention, intervention/amelioration, and policy/advocacy
✔ CE credits for psychologists and CLE credits for attorneys
✔ A welcome reception on Wednesday evening
✔ Daily complimentary breakfast, coffee break service, and a Saturday luncheon
Topics will include (but are not limited to):
violence in schools, gangs, and neighborhoods
juvenile justice child maltreatmentintimate partner violence
bullying media violence effects of violence on child development
protecting persons with disabilities racial and ethnic disparities LGBT concerns
access to care and services elder abusedrug policy and violence
role of mental health and substance abuse courts
