Subject: Support John Hudson, son of Faye Dilgen
Many of you know Faye Dilgen. She is a graduate of our BS/MS program and tDPT, as well as an adjunct for us. Her son has a very disabling disease (see below). This past week she bravely visited my class to talk to the students about being the mother of a child with a disablity. She shared that there will be a fundraiser for John Hudson this Saturday. Some of the first year students will be participating. Jennifer Yong is coordinating the effort.
Please read her email below and consider walking or donating.
Thanks

Hi there,
My name is Jennifer Yong and I am one of the Class Reps. for the Class of 2014. Please see the letter written below. I wanted to know if you can forward this to each class as a whole. Also, can the class representatives for each class contactme via e-mail at xJennifer.Yong at gmail.com<mailto:xJennifer.Yong at gmail.com>; cell: 917-751-0863<tel:917-751-0863> so that I can discuss the event a little bit further and pass along the donation envelope. The class reps for each class would also be able to explain the event to their classmates in more detail.
Thanks so much!
Hello,
I would like to bring an upcoming event to the attention of the PT Club and the students of the LIU DPT program. In our Psychological Issues class, we had a speaker come talk to us about her son, John Hudson, a 9-year old boy, who has a rare genetic skin disease called Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB). Please see the attached flyer for more detailed information regarding the skin disease. He lives in Staten Island and the Cub Pack 21 & Friends of John Hudson are organizing an event called Walk for Wheels. The goal of John Hudson's family is to find a better way to adapt their yard and car for John Hudson. He has an electric wheelchair that he cannot use because their house, yard and car are not accessible. The goal of Cub Pack 21 is to help make that happen and to raise EB awareness.
The walk-a-thon will be held in Tottenville, Staten Island. It is a 2-mile walk around JohnHudson's school and neighborhood. The DPT Class of 2014 would like to raise funds throughout the PT program and show our support for John Hudson and his family. There is a suggested donation of $5.00, but any amount that you are able to contribute is greatly appreciated.Checks can also be directly made out to John Hudson Dilgen. The class representatives of each class will be passing around a donation envelope and a sign-up sheet for the event. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to contact Dr. Stacy Gropack (stacy.gropack at liu.edu<mailto:stacy.gropack at liu.edu>) or Jennifer Yong (xJennifer.Yong at gmail.com<mailto:xJennifer.Yong at gmail.com> // (c) - 917-751-0863<tel:917-751-0863>)
If you are unable to attend the event, please make sure that your donation is received by Thursday, November 3, 2011.
We understand that everyone will not be able to attend, but we really hope you can. Thank you in advance for reading this announcement and I hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Please see below for a brief description of the event and the attached flyer for more detailed information.
