<div>Well Christine, I agree and disagree with you. I hate hate hate....did I mention hate graphic organizers. Personally I don't use them. Although, I sort of see where the author is going with this. The graphic organizer seems to be a visual mock up of thought, similar to an outline. Some students just require everything to be displayed in front of them. Sometimes it allows them to digest information more easily. If it gets the job done, in my opinion, let them do it. Also, tutoring is a practice filled with methods. Being that it is a practice, you of course need to put method to action to see if it works. You have seen graphic organizers don't work for you, I do as well, but for the student it may be vital. I think the author is taking a shotgun method to the methods instead of sniper's way of targeting. The author is trying to hit as many vital/non-vital points to allow for different thought and practice to come about. The book would be ineffective if it focused on one method. <br>
