Nicole- You definitely bring up a good point about how many of the techniques are foreign to teachers as well as the classroom becuase I actually think that they have the potential of being more effective in the high school setting. 

Rajul- Let me just say I am in 100% agreement with your views on freewriting. It is time consuming during a session so I avoid it!
